Crew Management and Training at Fleet Management
Fleet Management’s crew management and training solutions are designed to ensure vessels are manned by competent, highly skilled professionals. From recruitment to continuous education, we manage the entire crew lifecycle. Our recruitment services draw on a global network of seafarers, providing a diverse and highly qualified pool of talent. At the heart of our efforts is our in-house learning management system, T.O.L.A.S (Training Over Land and Sea), which allows seafarers to access up-to-date training modules both onshore and while at sea, ensuring seamless learning and skill refinement.
Advanced Training Facilities and Skill Development
At our dedicated training institutes, including the Fleet Management Training Institute (FMTI) in India, as well as facilities in the Philippines and China, we offer state-of-the-art simulation and hands-on training to prepare seafarers for the challenges of modern maritime operations.
The Navi Mumbai centre is our largest training destination, equipped with cutting-edge maritime simulators for both Nautical and Engineering streams, including a full mission ship simulator and advanced engine simulators. These facilities enable our crew to train on multiple ship types, geographical areas, and a variety of real-world scenarios.
Courses are customised for different vessel types and roles, ensuring every crew member receives relevant, up-to-date instruction.
Training extends beyond technical skills, focusing on human resource handling, soft skills, and correct processes for Human-Machine Interfacing. For our Rating team, we provide hands-on training supplemented by Virtual Reality laboratory simulations that allow detailed analysis and improvement of welding and painting techniques.
Safety, Compliance, and Crew Wellbeing
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Our crew training programmes focus not only on operational excellence but also on safety and regulatory compliance. We ensure that every crew member is trained to adhere to the latest international maritime regulations, including emergency procedures, safety drills, and risk mitigation strategies.
Additionally, our Fleet Care initiatives focus on the wellbeing of our crew, ensuring that mental health, family support, and comprehensive welfare programmes are embedded into our operations. As part of a structured career progression pathway, we offer a robust onboard mentoring programme, complemented by shore-based reviews. This allows seafarers to receive individual guidance and one-on-one interaction with experienced managers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their next career step.
FMTI’s greatest strength lies in its team of highly experienced trainers who bring a wealth of maritime knowledge to every course. They continuously adapt their teaching methods to include innovative techniques, from cloud-hosted simulators to interactive webinars that keep our crews informed on the latest industry trends. By offering a combination of robust crew management services and continuous training, we ensure that our teams are always prepared, supported, and capable of delivering exceptional service.
